People Over Politics

About Fletcher

Fletcher had the privilege of being born and raised in Knoxville, TN. If you ask anyone who knows him they will tell you of his love for this city. In his teens Fletcher started to dream of ways he could make Knoxville a better version of itself. At 17 started to prepare for the day he would run for mayor of his favorite city. When he was accepted to Middle Tennessee State University he immediately declared his major as Political Science. Fletcher did this specifically to prepare himself for this opportunity.

Fletcher has a passion and love for Knoxville that is unmatched. In the early 2000’s while attending MTSU he acquired the nickname, “Knoxville”, which transitioned into him being known as Fletcher Knoxville. He has embraced this and couldn’t be more proud of the name and the city he gets to call home!

Priorities

Economic growth

Fletcher wants to bring money into Knoxville. He believes we must transition from a checkpoint city, into a destination. Knoxville is an amazing place and moving forward he would love to see every person traveling through say, “I want to stop in Knoxville.” or “I hear Knoxville is amazing. Let’s explore.”

Local focus

We are known as the maker city and are a city filled with entrepreneurs. We must work to create an environment that is conducive to starting and owning a business. Knoxville is losing too many people to cities like Asheville, Chattanooga, Greenville, and Nashville, to name a few. Moving forward Fletcher hopes to create a city of opportunity and foster Knoxville’s entrepreneurial spirit. This will help us retain entry level college graduates, young professionals, and the rising tech industry. Creating a city with an opportunistic environment allows Knoxville to grow naturally, bolster its economy, and stay on the forefront of the modern Southeast.

Education

We must work with our county officials to make sure our youth have the tools they need to succeed. This includes teachers. They are molding the future of our city and we have to make sure they are taken care of.

Homelessness

As a city we must address the homeless population. We can no longer turn a blind eye and try to put bandaids on a perpetual problem. We should also aim to be a national leader in finding and implementing creative solutions to homelessness. The city should continue to support the incredible Knoxville organizations that are already helping the poor and homeless, that are working to truly help get people off the streets.

Safety

As a city we must ensure our law enforcement and first responders have the resources they need to protect and serve. Knoxville is a great place to live and our communities must remain safe. We are fortunate to have a strong police and fire department and Fletcher looks forward to the chance to support these hard working men and women.

Entertainment

Knoxville is growing. Our culture is one-of-a-kind. But, we can do more to support the entertainment industry. We currently have a high entertainment tax, preventing us from attracting and retaining talent in Knoxville. Moving forward we must offer incentives to artists who perform here, movies that film here, and bring back events like Boomsday and Sundown in the City, with some modern upgrades. These events will generate income for our city and allow us to stand out as an entertainment hub in the Southeast.

Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future.
— John F. Kennedy
